RIT Summit
RIT Summit 2024
The third FilmEU_RIT Summit, organised by the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM) at Tallinn University, Estonia, takes place from April 25th to 26th.
On April 24th, the day before the official start of the event, attendees can participate in an open Film Screening, followed by a Q&A session with one of the filmmakers. The next day, April 25th – the first official Summit day – is dedicated to the presentations of FilmEU_RIT's pilot projects and their final outcomes. The second day, April 26th, has a focus on the Doctoral Summer Seminar, offering a platform for emerging researchers to showcase their work and share experiences. This day begins with a session dedicated to FilmEU funding opportunities and future prospects, and the final segment introduces seed/seminal funding projects, ending the Summit with an insight into the new and innovative initiatives within the FilmEU_RIT project.
Before the Summit, there is another FilmEU_RIT related event taking place at the same venue - the 2nd Baltic NeuroCine Conference from April 23rd to 24th. Please note that the conference program will be published on the conference website soon. Together, these two events offer a comprehensive four-day program full of presentations, ideas, networking and dialogues on artistic research.

Doctoral Summer Seminar
FilmEU_RIT is hosting a one-day Doctoral Seminar during its 2024 research Summit in Tallinn on April 26th. The seminar aims to help young researchers network, share experiences and methods, and encourage new collaborations. The seminar will feature student presentations showcasing their current work, which will be followed by an experts panel and a peer feedback session. Students attending the seminar will also have access to the Summit's broader program, to all presentations, including social events. This allows the students to also learn about new funding opportunities and potential avenues for future collaborations within the FilmEU network.
We are accepting applications from students affiliated with FilmEU’s founding partners: Lusófona University in Portugal, Luca School of Arts in Belgium, IADT in Ireland, and Tallinn University in Estonia. To apply, please submit a short proposal by 4th of March, 2024.
Selection for participation will be based on the quality of the short proposal and considering how the research is related to the field of Film and Media Arts. Our aim is to ensure diversity by selecting students with different disciplinary emphases and at various stages in their PhD journey.
The proposal should include the following three components:
- an overview of your PhD project, including research motivations and questions, methods, intended contributions, progress to date, and plans for further research (max. 250 words);
- the main challenge(s) you are facing in your PhD currently (max. 250 words);
- what do you want to gain from participating in the Doctoral Seminar (max. 250 words).
FilmEU will grant each selected student a travel and accommodation scholarship. Each student participating must deliver an oral presentation.
Note: Exclusive to FilmEU PhD Students from Lusófona University, Luca School of Arts, Tallinn University and MA students from IADT.
Registration
Registration is mandatory for all FilmEU_RIT Summit participants and is open from February 22nd until April 17th, 2024.
