Walking tour in Tallinn old town and Rotermanni district on 12 June

You will begin your tour in the Rotermanni Quarter. The Rotermanni district, the starting point for the main travel routes in Tallinn, marks the heart of the city. With its modern architecture, the Rotermanni Quarter is considered the "New Old Town." This area is unique due to its architecture: 19th-century factory buildings are being integrated with contemporary design. Once an industrial eyesore in the 1990s, it is now being transformed into a blend of old and new. If you’re a fan of architecture, you’ll find this place captivating! The tour then continues through the narrow, winding streets of the Lower Town. You’ll see beautiful old churches, unique merchant houses, and impressive city defenses. You will also visit the Town Hall, the only surviving Gothic town hall in Northern Europe, which was built in the early 14th century. Finally, the tour takes you to the Upper Town on Toompea Hill, stopping at the Parliament Building, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Dome Church, and a scenic viewpoint.

Duration 2.5 hours, guiding in English. Starting point is Tallinn University (we will let you know about the exact location). The tour takes place on 12th of June - starting after the Keynote lecture . We will inform you of the exact starting point at least one day before the excursion.

NB! The minimum number of participants is 20 persons.

We kindly ask you to note that in order to participate in the Walking tour in Tallinn old town and Rotermanni district, you must indicate your intention to attend on the general registration form.

The cost per person: 32 €

A Japanese garden relies on the philosophy of the circle of life and also on the expressiveness of nature.Flow, contemplation, and meditating on nature are activities that characterise a true Japanese garden. The Japanese garden in Kadriorg Park was opened on 31 July 2011. Masao Sone, the designer of the garden, comes from Kyoto and learned landscaping in Tokyo as well as from his father who is a gardener. The northeast pond of Kadriorg and its buried limestone slope, boulders, large trees, pond, and waterfall were a brilliant source of inspiration.A garden is like any living organism – it develops and changes in time and you will always find a reason to come back here! Seaplane Harbour, Estonian Maritime Museum

The most exciting maritime museum in Europe is located in the Seaplane Harbour! About 200 authentic items are on display at the historical seaplane hangar: a submarine called Lembit, a century-old icebreaker Suur Tõll, a seaplane called Short 184, remains of the oldest ship found in Estonia, and much more. There is also a cafe MARU and a museum shop. Globe-trotting in a submarine, having your picture taken in a navy uniform, an aquarium, simulators, throwing paper airplanes, a children's corner with drawing tools, building blocks, an authentic sailboat, and an outdoor playground – programmes and materials meant for independent visits are playful and broaden the horizon of children and adults alike.
